deserted for a long time

Jonghsiang's view

Tradition is something that has been abandoned by me long ago yet
is what I desperately need now in order to create my identity.
My tradition is the something that only belongs to me and
my best weapon to battle in the industry.

Vedayana's view on tradition

As a marketer of fahsion, aesthetics and arts, tradition is in something I cant let go in order to sell to the mass. And belonging to a country like India, tradtion is in every little thing that we do, from the movies we make, the dances we perform or for that matter the food we eat.As a fashion student selling innovation to a traditional audience is a challenge, which i love.

Cindy's view on tradition

Woody Allen said, "Tradition is the illusion of permanence.", but in the field of fashion marketing, I think it is important to combine traditional branding identity with innovative marketing strategy to keep the fashion brand permanently in view.

Grace's view on tradition

~between modern and traditional~

According to the dictionary, the meaning of tradition is a belief, custom or way of doing something that has existed for a long time among a particular group of people.

For me tradition might be a constraint but it also inspires me. I have found that it is interesting to use traditional techniques incoporated with modern style to create new styles of garment.

Sushmitha's view on tradition

As an Indian, my needs as a graphic designer have always been influenced by tradition. I have grown up absorbing all the strong cultural elements around me and these have directly or indirectly influenced my designs. As a graphic designer, I wish to preserve and carry on these traditions through my work.

Mia's view on tradition

The academic background of media and communication makes me focus on the relationship between the fashion industry and media. In media, traditionally the inherent method of transmission of fashion information is by journal, radio and television. At the moment, various kinds of media have provided excellent samples to fashion, such as French fashion TV and fashion-related programmes. But in my country, the fashion media is lacking creativity and distinction. In the future, i want to establish people's fashion concepts and discuss fashionable life in a way that develops a new tradition for fashion media and communication in China.

Vivian's view of "Tradition"

Tradition is a part of national history. Moreover, traditional brands have
become a unique symbol in their countries or evern on the global scale.
They are like an elder statesman who witness his country's changes.
In my future, I want to use visual communication design to help traditional
brands locate their own identities. Therefore, to help their products be easily
identified and stand out in the global marketplace.

Tradition of the 3D Art Industry

The CG industry has an exponential growth, where techniques within the art of its design would be deemed tradition, they are constantly evolving and being improved upon.

SIMIN‘s Feeling of Traditon

As a designer, tradition gives me a lot of inspiration,
especially in Chinese printing and Chinese craft.
Not only do they use different techniques and elements
but alsothey focus on a beautifully artistic conception of their work.
In the furture, I like to use some traditional techniques in my design
in order that people can fee the traditional history of the culture behind the work.

Camilla's thoughts on tradition

Tradition satisfies my needs as an artist and designer in two ways. The traditions of India, from block printing to miniature painting, provide the inspiration for my design work. Even though the culture is so different to my English culture, the way in which the traditions are maintained and handed down from generation to generation are what so inspires me about them. My proposed work for this year and beyond is led by the traditional methods of printing onto paper, from etching to lino cuts and lithographs. Though I will be developing ways of reproducing the unique effects of these techniques on fabric, I am very aware of the depth of tradition and history behind each one and it informs the way in which my work develops.
